In a somewhat surprising move, the Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) recently amended its regulations, allowing sportsbooks in Nevada to book bets for esports competitions.
The journey to the legalization of esports betting in Nevada has been a long and meticulous process. The Nevada Esports Technical Advisory Committee, dedicated to addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by esports betting, worked tirelessly for a year to develop the necessary regulations.
In January, the state Gaming Control Board adopted the recommendations put forth by the committee, with a notable addition of a doping provision.
