Ohio Begins to Assess Applicants for Business Kiosks

When Ohio drafted its sports betting legislation, it went for the equal opportunity approach for in-person bets. Bettors can place a wager in bars and restaurants through kiosks, in addition to mobile apps and brick and mortar sportsbooks, according to Cleveland.com.

The Lottery commission has pre-approved over 1,000 businesses. If a business wants its kiosk on the Jan. 1 start date, they’ll need to get their application submitted to the state’s Casino Control Commission by Aug. 15.

About 130 have already applied, according to the commission.

Businesses have to pay a $1,000 fee to apply. Applicants need to be both a lottery retailer and possess a liquor license and be for-profit. For more information visit: www.cleveland.com.
