Cherokee Nation Businesses will invest .9 million in a three-phase renovation project at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Phase one will consist of a $2.1 million renovation of the hotel’s lobby to add more space at the check-in area. Work will begin May and be completed in mid-August. Phase two will add a $2.5 million luxury spa. Phase three will be a $2.3 million addition of a 16,000 square foot pool complex with cabanas, an extended bar and a hot tub area.
The tribe opened the $80 million casino in 2004 and completed a $125 million expansion in 2009, adding a hotel tower with high-end suites and convention center space.
Last year, CNB announced it has leased property west of the casino for a potential upscale retail development, Cherokee Outlets. Owner Woodmont Outlets said it will invest $80 million into the development, which will offer more than 300,000 square feet of leasable space with a focus on premium and upscale shops for about 100 retailers. Construction is scheduled to start in mid-2015 and be completed in late 2016. CNB officials said the company will develop an entertainment and dining zone, to be called the District, which would connect the upscale shops directly to the casino.
CNB also operates casinos in Claremore, Ramona, Fort Gibson, Tahlequah, Sallisaw, Roland, South Coffeyville and West Siloam Springs.
