The Muscogee (Creek) Nation’s Duck Creek Casino in Beggs, Oklahoma held a grand opening April 15 for its new 8,000 square foot expansion, featuring more than 200 new machines, including new 4D machines. The festivities began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a VIP event for tribal and gaming officials and the casino’s top 600 players. General Manager Lorinda Driskill, who celebrated her 24-year anniversary in the gaming industry on April 11, said, “The planning started about two years ago. This team, they work together, it’s a family. The fact that we’re having to expand is phenomenal because that means we’re doing what we’re supposed to do.”

Driskill added, “This has been my dream since I became the general manager here, because I’m a Creek citizen and making money for the tribe is why I’m here. I want to do the Nation proud.”

In related news, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation said it will move the historic Jenks Bridge, a one-lane truss section installed in 1948. It’s located near the tribe’s River Spirit Casino Resort and the Southern Villa Mobile Home Park. The tribe purchased the mobile home park last year and recently served eviction notices to residents, noting the property was difficult to manage due to theft, vandalism and alleged drug trafficking. Also, its location would be ideal for a major retail development, tribal leaders said. Meanwhile, the Jenks Bridge, one of the oldest in Oklahoma, will relocate to a walking trail, though the exact location has not been announced.
