Danish gambling regulator Spillemyndigheden reports that online gaming now makes up more than half of all gaming in the country. Overall gambling revenue in Denmark for 2017 was $1.53 billion with lotteries the main source of income.

In its annual report, Danish gambling regulator Spillemyndigheden reports that the country’s online gaming market was responsible for 51.5 percent of total gambling revenue for 2017, up from 47.4 percent in 2016.

Overall gambling revenue in Denmark for the past year amounted to DKK9.2bn (€1.24bn/$1.53bn), with lotteries the main source of income after generating DKK3.1bn, according to igamingbusiness.com.

Sports betting across both the land-based and online markets was the second-highest contributor with DKK2.3bn in revenue, up 7.4 percent on the previous year, while online casino revenue jumped 15.5 percent year-on-year to DKK1.8bn.

Revenue from gaming machines outside of casinos dropped 1% to DKK1.49bn, while land-based casino revenue remained relatively flat at DKK375m, the report said.
