Online Gambling Rises in Denmark for 2016

Yearly figures for the Danish market show that online gambling helped increase overall gambling revenue 13 percent for 2016. The country saw $5.3 billion in revenue from sports betting and online gambling.

Denmark saw a 24 percent increase in online gambling revenue for 2016 according to figure’s released by Danish gambling regulators.

The regulator, Spillemyndigheden, said the expansion of online casinos was a key factor in increasing gambling revenue for the year. Online gambling and sports betting took in $5.3 billion for 2016, up 13 percent over 2015.

Online casino revenue was up 24 percent in 2016 to about $200 million. About 72 percent of online play was on online slots. Online poker was down about 10 percent from 2015.
