A new retail sportsbook opened in early May at the Potawatomi Casino Hotel in Milwaukee Wisconsin as part of a $190 million renovation of the casino’s first- and second-floor gaming and dining venues.
But the 6,500-square-foot sportsbook and the renovations are not the only reason for the tribal owners to celebrate. The property is designing a mobile app to be located within the hotel.
The compact between the tribe and the state requires the app to be geofenced to the casino building. The app expects to be ready to take wagers in eight months from anywhere in the casino building, according to Yogonet Gaming News.
“We’re excited. It’ll bring a new flavor when you come to the casino,” Potawatomi CEO Dominic Ortiz told BizTimes. “If you don’t want to go wait in line and put your bet in on the kiosk, you could sit right here and place prop bets, enjoy your meal, food, drink and entertainment.”
Ortiz said such a mobile option is developing into an industry standard. “That’s what’s happening, and we want to stay ahead of it,” he said.
The sportsbook, which opened in early May, replaced a theater and bar and grill. The venue possesses a professional broadcast booth for the 400 person capacity within two floors. It also features a bar and restaurant.
