Pennsylvania Casino Launches New Jersey Online Casino

Pennsylvania’s SugarHouse casino has quietly launched an online site in New Jersey. The site was launched in partnership with Golden Nugget casino in Atlantic City. The site offers only slots and casino games and is the 12th licensed site operating in the state.

With very little promotion or fanfare, Philadelphia’s SugarHouse Casino has launched an online casino site in New Jersey in partnership with Atlantic City’s Golden Nugget casino.

The operation is run by Rush Street Interactive, a division of the parent company of SugarHouse.

“We’re excited to be operating in New Jersey,” said Greg Carlin, CEO of Chicago-based Rush Street Gaming. “We think it’s a great opportunity for our company.”

The site offers about 240 online casino games, but does not offer peer-to-peer online poker.

Two other out-of-state casinos have partnered with Atlantic City casinos—online gambling sites in New Jersey are required to partner with an existing Atlantic City casino—and launched sites in the state including Mohegan Sun, which is partnered with Resorts and also has a Pennsylvania casino, and San Diego’s Pala Casino, which is partnered with Borgata.

SugarHouse did not publicize the launch, but analysts speculate that the casino may be preparing for a possible legalizing of online gaming in Pennsylvania. The company also operates casinos in Illinois and New York, states which have also considered legalizing online gaming. Carlin said SugarHouse would continue to operate in New Jersey even if Pennsylvania gets iGaming.

SugarHouse’s Philadelphia location also means the casino clearly draws customers from neighboring New Jersey. Rush Street also owns the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh.
