Playtech Ends Agreement for Marvel Comics Themed Slots

Playtech has advised its software licensees that it will be pulling all online slots themed on Marvel Comics characters. The company said the licensing agreement it held with Marvel is expiring. The company has a new deal in place with DC Comics.

Say goodbye to Ironman online slots from Playtech as the company has advised its software licensees that it is pulling its Marvel Comics themed online games.

A spokesman for the software providers told CalvinAyre.com that the company’s promotional agreement with marvel was ending. Affiliates such as William Hill and Ladbroke Coral have been told the games would be pulled starting this month.

Marvel Entertainment was acquired by Disney in 2009. In 2013 the company announced it had “discontinued plans to initiate or renew slot machine licensing arrangements” related to its intellectual property.

Playtech has since signed a licensing deal with Warner Brothers Consumer Products, which controls the rights to DC Comics characters such as Batman and Superman, according to CalvinAyre.com.

In another matter, Playtech BGT Sports has agreed to a contract extension with BoyleSports. Playtech BGT Sports will supply another 325 terminals to BoyleSports for a combined total to more than 600.

The majority of the machines are Playtech BGT Sports’ widescreen Storm terminals.
