Designed internally, the betting terminals are the result of a three-year project at PMU. They will now be rolled out by the operator in phases, PMU confirmed yesterday (March 4).
Some 100 terminals have been running since December 2024 as part of a pilot project for PMU. After the success of this, 5,000 more terminals will be installed and made available to players from April 2025.
By the end of 2026, PMU is aiming to deploy more than 11,200 new-generation terminals in total.
“This rapid deployment is made possible by the mobilization of PMU’s sales teams in the field,” PMU said. “They support partners in the installation and commissioning of the terminals.
“They are also present alongside punters to guide them in getting to grips with the new interface and offer animations to mark this event in the points of sale.”
What is New on the PMU Terminals?
The new terminals feature a refreshed betting interface, with PMU saying navigation is now similar to mobile apps. The screen, which is displayed in portrait format, has been optimized, is larger and more responsive.
Other features include a new receipt reader and betting basket, while users will experience new, on-screen animations. PMU added that the overall design of the terminal is “sleeker,” integrating a luminous halo and totem.
In addition, PMU said new security features make betting safe for customers. Such features include reinforced authentication, increased fraud protection, regulatory compliance and traceability.
“It thus integrates in a more user-friendly and aesthetic way into the universe of the point of sale and contributes to giving a more modern image to PMU,” the operator added.
