PokerStars and Full Tilt poker, owned by Amaya Gaming, has been newly licensed in the UK under the country’s new online gambling laws.
The sites had been operating in the UK with temporary licenses pending a review of the financial stability, high standards of game integrity, secure payment processing, responsible gaming policies, anti-crime and anti-laundering policies.
“We are very pleased to receive operating licenses in the UK, which is a large and growing market for us,” said Eric Hollreiser, the Head of Corporate Communications for Amaya Gaming and Poker Stars. “We continue to build upon PokerStars’ leadership in poker in the UK and intend to leverage our scale and expertise to become market leaders in casino and sports betting.”
Hollreiser said the licensing illustrates the strength of Amaya Gaming’s platforms, its regulatory approach and the company’s commitment to integrity, security and consumer protection.
Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker previously operated under licenses issued by the Isle of Man’s gaming authority until 2014. When new gaming laws were introduced in the UK, the sites were awarded temporary continuation licenses, with the view to making them permanent if they met all the requirements set out by the Gambling Commission.
