Police: Insiders Swiped $420K from Mohegan Sun

A Mohegan Sun vice president, beverage server, and a third person are accused of using bogus player’s cards loaded with fake funds to steal nearly $420,000 from the casino over a year. Two casino workers copied existing cards, loaded them with excess funds, and gave them to an accomplice to use slot machines to withdraw the excess funds, police say.

Two employees and another person are suspected of stealing 0,000 from the Mohegan Sun Pocono in Luzerne County over about a year.

The three pulled off the swindle from about May 2014 to April 2015, which involved using player cards loaded with money that did not exist.

Investigators say beverage server Rochelle Poszeluznyj and casino Vice President of Player Development Robert Pelligrini made copies of actual players’ cards and loaded them with additional money.

Investigators say a third man, Mark Hetzel, has no connection to the Mohegan Sun and would use the bogus cards to play slot machines, using only the excess funds his accomplices allegedly loaded onto the cards.

Through the scam, investigators say the trio spent $480,000 and netted about $419,000 in illegal gains.
