Pro Joins Nevada Gaming Commission

Former U.S. District Judge Philip Pro accepted an appointment to the Nevada Gaming Commission to fill a vacancy created when former Commissioner Pat Mulroy resigned to join the board of directors for Wynn Resorts. Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval appointed Pro to replace Mulroy and said Pro’s experience as a federal judge should prove beneficial.

Former U.S. District Judge Philip Pro will fill a vacancy created when Pat Mulroy resigned from the Nevada Gaming Commission.

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval named Pro to fill Mulroy’s former seat on October 26 and said Pro’s “knowledge and judicial temperament will be an asset to the commission,” the Las Vegas Review Journal reported.

“Judge Pro is a well-respected member of our community with a legal career that has spanned decades of growth in Nevada,” Sandoval said. “I know he will serve with integrity and we are fortunate that he has accepted this new position.”

President Ronald Reagan appointed Pro to the federal court in 1987, and Pro retired from it in 2012. He now provides arbitration and mediation services and said he is honored to accept the appointment to the Nevada Gaming Commission.

Mulroy resigned from the Gaming Commission earlier this year to become a member of the board of directors for Wynn Resorts.

The Nevada Commission on Ethics approved Mulroy’s appointment to the Wynn board and waived a one-year wait period for gaming regulators to join casino operations.
