Revel Gets Heat in Atlantic City

Glenn Straub, owner of the closed Revel casino in Atlantic City says heat has been restored to the building after eight months. The situation drew the attention of city code officials as winter temperatures set in.

Glenn Straub, owner of the closed Revel casino in Atlantic City, says the 6.2 million square foot complex is now heated after eight months without heat.

Straub told the Press of Atlantic City that his company Polo North Country Club Inc. has restored heat to the building.

The city threatened to issue fines and said it would consider litigation if the building’s interior dipped below 40 degrees, which could result in damaged water pipes and other hazards, the Press said.

Polo North has been in a long-running fight with ACR Energy Partners—owners of the site’s power plant—over back energy and construction costs. In November, both companies, along with a trustee for bondholders on the plant, settled a federal court case over the dispute, with Polo North and ACR agreeing to pay the bondholders $30 million and $15 million, respectively, according to the Press.
