Work on the Rivers Casino & Resort at Mohawk Harbor in Schenectady is ahead of schedule, and the casino might open in February.

The $330 million casino development anchors the $480 million waterfront development that will include a 50-slip boat harbor at the former Alco site in Schenectady.

Rush Street Gaming CEO Greg Carlin said the rapid work pace could enable a February opening, making it the first of four new casino operations to open in New York.

Rush Street will operate the 50,000-square-foot casino, which is to have 1,150 slots and 66 table games.

Another 150,000 square feet will house restaurants, an entertainment lounge, spa, and banquet hall. A 150-room hotel and attached parking structure also are planned.

Nassau County Off Track Betting Corporation is negotiating with state gaming regulators to allow it to add 1,000 slot machines at the Resorts World New York casino at the Aqueduct Racetrack.

The casino now has 5,544 slots and shares 7 percent of proceeds with the New York Racing Association and 1.5 percent with the breeding industry. Another 7.5 percent goes toward race purses at Aqueduct, Belmont Park, and Saratoga Race Course.

It would not share revenues from the additional 1,000 slots, though.

If a deal is reached to expand the Resorts World New York casino, the New York Gaming Commission would have to approve it.
