Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi recently opened the Robo Bar, the second of its kind in the U.S. , where Jengo, one of two robot bartenders, is capable of making up to 120 drinks per hour. Hard Rock Casino Marketing Consultant Megan McGuinness said, “There’s nothing like it on the coast. There’s nothing like it on the whole Eastern seaboard.” The other robotic bar is the Tipsy Robot on the Las Vegas strip.
At the Robo Bar, customers select their beverage or cocktail from tablets set up around the room. Those orders are sent to the robots, which are manufactured by the Italian company Makr Shakr and resemble those on an automotive assembly line. Guests then may pick up their cocktails or have them delivered by servers. Other humans who work with the robots include mechanics who service them and IT employees who work on advancing the ordering system.
McGuinness noted, “We’re not replacing employees with robots. It’s unique. It’s cool. We think it will really appeal to millennials.”
Twin River Management Chief Executive Officer Phil Juliana said, “It’s not the end of what we are going to do at Hard Rock. There’s plenty more coming.”
