Rubio Kisses Adelson’s Ring Over iGaming

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio told voters while campaigning in South Carolina that he is has concerns about allowing online gambling and called for federal legislation rather than a state-by-state approach. Rubio is a co-sponsor of the Restore America’s Wire Act bill before Congress that would ban online gambling in the U.S.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio told voters in South Carolina that he opposes the expansion of online gambling in the U.S. while campaigning for president.

The Breitbart News Network reported that during a town hall meeting in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Rubio was asked about his position on the legalization of internet poker and online gambling.

“I’m very concerned about expanding gaming online,” said Rubio. “What I don’t want to see is internet casinos, because I have seen gambling addiction ruin families, I have seen gambling expansion ruin people’s lives.”

Rubio did say that he felt online poker was different since it involves “some level of skill.”

Rubio said he wanted responsible regulation of online gambling instead of what he described as the “Wild West” approach of letting states pass their own laws.

Rubio is a co-sponsor of the Restore America’s Wire Act bill before Congress that would ban online gambling in the U.S. However, it has been previously reported that Rubio has said he is open to exempting online poker from the ban.
