San Manuel Adds Legislative Director

A veteran of consulting for the California legislature, Alva Johnson, has been named legislative director of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. The band operates San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino.

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, owners and operators of San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino in San Bernardino County, California, have retained Alva Johnson as legislative director.

Alva is a veteran of more than a decade’s service for several divisions of the California legislature, specializing in education and gaming issues. He was chief consultant for the California Assembly Governmental Organization Committee and worked for more than a dozen years working with tribal governments advising them on policy issues and representing them before state agencies. He has also represented tribal interests in Washington D.C.

San Manuel CEO Jerry Paresa commented, “We are fortunate to have Alva Johnson join our Intergovernmental Affairs Department. Alva possesses the breadth and depth of background, experience and skills that will be critical to achieving our legislative, policy and political objectives.”
