Saskatchewan Casino Revenues Plunge

SaskGaming has released its numbers for 2013, and they’re nothing to cheer about. Bottom line: revenues at Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw are down more than $10 million for the year.

Minister cites mature market

SaskGaming in Saskatchewan, a Crown corporation that operates Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw, generated $41.1 million in revenues for 2013, a drop of $52.6 million from 2012, reports News-Talk CJME.

In a statement, Minister Don McMorris attributed the shrinking revenues “are broadly reflective of what is happening in the entire gaming industry across Canada.”

“During its early years, Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw were new in the market and regularly experienced double digit growth,” McMorris said. “SaskGaming now operates in a mature market, experiencing flattening revenues in recent years and declining revenue in 2013.

About 3.6 million people visited the casinos in 2013, down from 3.625 million in 2012, CJME reported.
