Scientific Games Corporation announced the successful launch of its latest generation, omni-channel lottery gaming system for the Atlantic Lottery in Canada. The new system supports traditional lottery retail sales as well as mobile and internet gaming sales in the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island.
Supporting draw games, digital instant games, iBingo and sports wagers, the system features the company’s secure, cross-platform Player Account Management system, which allows Atlantic Lottery players to purchase lottery products through a unified experience with one wallet.
“Atlantic Lottery is committed to reinvention and renewal through fresh, new and enhanced products and services that are now enabled by this advanced systems technology from Scientific Games,” said Brent Scrimshaw, president and CEO of Atlantic Lottery. “We look forward to providing innovative entertainment experiences, to expanding the space in which we operate, and ultimately to beginning our next phase of responsible growth.”
Scientific Games’ AEGISgaming system and SciplayiLottery platform are key components of the technology involved, allowing seamless integration of Scientific Games content and third-party content. The ;lottery’s second-chance ticket entry program was re-launched as part of the project, along with a new digital instant game program featuring electronic scratch games played via mobile and internet. An all new draw game, Daily Grand, was also developed and launched.
“We are excited to launch our latest, most advanced omni-channel lottery platform to meet the Atlantic Lottery’s vision of a unified experience for their players,” said Pat McHugh, senior vice president of global gaming systems for Scientific Games. “The new digital instant and draw games have been well-received by Atlantic Lottery players, and have already created a significant lift in sales.
“Players across four Canadian provinces can now seamlessly access an exciting array of lottery products, promotions and services, whether they are playing games purchased at retail, or via mobile or internet. We applaud the Atlantic Lottery for their strategic vision supporting their players and beneficiaries.”
The new systems launch is part of a five-year contract awarded to Scientific Games by Atlantic Lottery. The company has provided products and services to the Atlantic Lottery since the 1990s.
In other company news, Scientific Games reported a 2 percent year-over-year increase in machine sales in the normally slow third quarter, with 30 percent of those sales being U.S. and Canadian replacement units.
The increase of 899 replacement sales more than offset the lower level of shipments of equipment for new casinos and expansions, which was down 493 units, Chief Financial Officer Michael Quartieri said.
He said in the United States and Canada, Scientific sold 4,662 new gaming machines, including 3,932 replacement units, 251 units for casino expansions and 479 video gaming terminals to Illinois. He said new units had a 5 percent increase in sales price.
