SciGames Takes Charge of Hungary’s Game Systems

The slots, systems and lottery provider has launched a new web-based sports betting channel in Hungary. The deployment is in line with SciGames’ new status as the sole provider of all state-run gaming platforms and technologies in the central European country.

Scientific Games and developed and successfully launched an online sports betting channel for Szerencsejáték Zrt., Hungary’s state-owned lottery and the largest gaming services provider in the country.

The omni-channel platform allows Szerencsejáték to deliver sports betting via mobile and internet, as well as through their distribution channel of nearly 5,000 retail lottery terminals.

With the implementation of the platform, the U.S.-based games and systems giant is now Szerencsejáték’s sole provider of gaming systems technologies and will oversee their continued development, installation, and maintenance.

“We now have one company providing advanced gaming technology that supports our entire gaming portfolio,” said Szerencsejáték CIO David Csillag. “The new technology accelerates the implementation of our IT strategy, drives efficient operations and lower maintenance costs and creates a seamless gaming experience for our players.”

SciGames’ Vice President of Global Lottery Systems Pat McHugh said the platform has helped Szerencsejáték “become a very innovative gaming company”.

“We are now supporting Szerencsejáték Zrt. in a multi-channel gaming environment.”

Scientific Games, initially through a legacy company, has provided betting, gaming system technology, lottery retailer terminals and instant games solutions to Szerencsejáték since 1997. In 2015 the company launched its AEGIS open software system in Hungary.
