Second Wisconsin Tribe to Offer Sports Betting

On Monday, December 20, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers announced that he and Chairman William Reynolds of the St. Croix Chippewa Indians had signed a compact amendment allowing the tribe to offer betting on sports and non-sporting events, such as the Academy Awards.

The signed amendment was sent to the U.S. Department of Interior where it will undergo a 45-day review. It’s expected to be approved, according to local CBS affiliate WKOW.

The St. Croix Tribe has already begun construction of a sportsbook inside its Turtle Lake Casino. The revised amendment includes remote event wagering on land owned by the tribe or held in trust for the tribe.

Earlier this year, the Oneida Nation became the first tribal operator in the state to allowing sports wagers at its affiliated casinos in Green Bay.
