Seneca to Lead Seneca Gaming

It’s back to the future as Kevin Seneca has been named to head the Seneca Gaming Corp. He replaces Brad John, who resigned to become Seneca Nation of Indians recreation director.

Kevin Seneca has returned as CEO of the Seneca Gaming Corp., returning after his replacement, Brad John, resigned to become the recreation director for the Seneca Nation. Under tribal bylaws, members of the Seneca Gaming Corp. board cannot serve as officials with the Seneca Nation.

John had replaced Kevin Seneca last April during the gaming corporation’s annual meeting. Seneca served on the Seneca Gaming board from 2008 to 2011 and returned to the board two years ago.

Also joining the board are five-time Seneca Nation President Barry Snyder Sr., former Chairwoman Karen Karsten, Al George and Buffalo businessman Michael Militello. Militello is the first non-Seneca to serve on Seneca Gaming’s board of directors since it was formed in 2002. Ina Locke is also a member of the board. Snyder resigned as a Seneca council member in order to take a seat on the board of Seneca Gaming.

The moves come as a New York state casino license was granted to the $425 million resort Lago Resort & Casino in the Finger Lakes area, which would impact Seneca Nation casinos in Salamanca, Niagara Falls and Buffalo.

Klint Nephew and Kimberlee Dunlop are vice chairman and secretary respectively, while Richard Nephew was named treasurer. Richard Nephew has been on the board since 2009 and served as treasurer between 2010 and 2013.

All of the board roles will remain in effect until the gaming corporation’s annual meeting, set for this April.
