Sihanoukville Casinos Still Closed

All casinos in Preah Sihanoukville, Cambodia remain closed as part of official measures to curb the spread of Covid-19.

According to the Cambodia Daily, under Cambodia’s “traffic light system,” Sihanoukville has been designated a yellow zone, with no gaming halls operational and a curfew in effect. All large gatherings are banned.

The Khmer Times reported that authorities are especially concerned about casinos as possible infection sites. There have been 4,579 cases of Covid-19 in the province since February, when four Chinese nationals bribed their way out of a quarantine hotel and visited a series of nightclubs. Two of them later tested positive for Covid-19, and kicked off the country’s first major outbreak.
