Macau gaming operator Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM) has begun distributing bonuses to employees to help them through the Covid crisis that has battered the Chinese casino enclave.
The first round of payments, termed a “living subsidy,” was completed on January 6. A second round is slated to follow in July.
Employees making more than MOP20,000 (US$2,500) will be paid a total of one and a half months’ salary or a cash bonus of MOP40,000. Those earning less than 20,000 will receive an extra two months’ salary.
The payments are part of a three-year bonus scheme running from 2020 to 2022. A “summer living subsidy,” was distributed last July.
“We would like to thank our staff members for their diligent work and dedicated support amidst the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic,” said SJM Chairwoman Daisy Ho. “Entering 2021, we stand in solidarity with the Macau people in safeguarding the health and safety of the community and in welcoming a bright new year.”
