Snoqualmie Tribe Aids Landslide Relief

In connection with the March 22 landslide in Oso, Washington, the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe recently gave $275,000 to area fire departments, the Red Cross and K-9 relief. Tribal members participated in search operations. The tribe operates the Snoqualmie Casino Resort, located 25 miles outside Seattle.

The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe, operators of the Snoqualmie Casino Resort, located 25 miles outside Seattle, recently donated 5,000 to relief efforts relating to the March 22 landslide that occurred at Oso, Washington. To date 29 people have died and 20 are missing.

The tribe gave $50,000 each to the Darrington, Arlington and Oso fire departments, along with the Red Cross and Cascade Valley Relief Foundation, plus $25,000 to K-9 relief. Tribal Vice-chair Bob DeLosAngeles said the donation was inspired by members who participated in the search efforts.

The Stillaguamish, Sauk-Suiattle and Tulalip tribes also donated money to landslide relief efforts.

Washington Governor Jay Inslee said, “I know that every Washingtonian holds in their heart the people of the Stillaguamish Valley and we all wish we could ease their pain. We can all join together and silently send our thoughts and prayers to the families of Oso.”
