The Great Northern Casino in Alberta Canada reopened June 10 for the first time in more than six months. It was compelled to close on December 12, 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic spiked again in Canada.

The province has now reached Stage 2 of its reopening plan, in which all casinos, indoor recreation areas and indoor dining are permitted to reopen at 33 percent capacity.

General Manager Leanne Brownless told CDC Gaming Reports, “We’re extremely excited to get back to work and opened up. We’ll be following all the AHS protocols and sanitizing. Our lounge is open, slot machines will be open and table games will be open.” She added, “Hopefully, shortly, we’ll get our live entertainment back as well.”

Brownless concluded, “I have a long list of acts that are just waiting for the call to get booked back onto our stage. Once the announcement comes it won’t be long until we have the stage full again.”
