South Dakota and Wyoming are making major strides to get sports betting rolling in time for football season.

The South Dakota Commission on Gaming approved final sports betting regulations and the Wyoming Gaming Commission now seeks sportsbook and vendor applications, according to Sports Handle.

In South Dakota, voters in November approved in-person wagering in Deadwood only. The final regulations should go before the legislature August 2. The commission expects to name operators at its September 8 meeting in time for Deadwood to accept wagers on September 9, the NFL’s kick-off.

The commission has not named names, but applications likely come from the major players.

Over in Wyoming, regulators have solicited applications for the online-only wagering approved by lawmakers in April. The application requires potential sportsbooks be licensed in not fewer than three jurisdictions in the U.S.

The law requires a minimum of five digital operators.
