Southern California Tribe Opens Second Hotel Tower

The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians in San Diego County are poised to open their second hotel tower to their Viejas Casino & Resort. The $50 million addition has 109 rooms.

Viejas Casino & Resort in Alpine, Southern California, owned and operated by the Viejas Band of the Kumeyaay Indians will open a second hotel tower this week, two years after opening its first.

The $50 million tower has 109 rooms, a fitness center, business center, bar and lounge and meeting spaces that can hold up to 1,200. The development project also included expanding the casino floor and adding 1,000 slot machines.

Thousands were expected to attend the October 30 ribbon-cutting and the performance by Tino Wallenda of the Flying Wallendas, scheduled to walk a tightrope spanning the space between the two towers.

Viejas Tribal Chairman Robert Welch hailed the second tower, Our new hotel tower and casino expansion raises the bar for our guests and delivers an experience that’s unmatched in the San Diego area.”
