Spain To Impose Gaming Limits on Spend and Time

Under proposals established by Spain’s gaming regulator, the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego, players using online casinos will be required to post a set time and net spend limit with every session. Limits cannot be altered, saved, or predetermined.

It has made the proposal public to gather feedback from interested parties, who have until a deadline of August 9 to respond.

During a gaming session, players will receive a minimum of one message every 30 minutes with information about playing behavior. Customers must also set a maximum amount to lose in the ensuing 24 hours, according to iGaming Business.

Casino operators must prepare a monthly summary of play available to each customer, with the number of times on the site, deposits made, account history, balance history, and any changes in deposit limits.

Heavy bettors will be banned from using credit cards.

Other specific measures have been introduced for young players (under 25) who must receive additional messaging related to the risks of gambling and are prohibited from being part of schemes for high-value customers or from receiving any type of gift, perk, or consideration from operators.
