Spain’s regulated online gambling market saw gross gambling revenue increase by 32.6 percent to 125.7 million euros in the fourth quarter of 2016.
The amount wagered increases 19.9 percent €2.9 billion, according to Spanish regulator the Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling.
Sports betting generated 55.52 percent of the country’s total gambling revenues worth about €69.8m, a more than 30 percent increase over 2015. Casino games had a 28.6 percent share worth €36m and online poker had a 12.12 percent share worth €15.2m.
Online poker saw tournament revenue rising by 16.9 percent while cash games declined by 7.6 percent.
The number of new online customers increased 10 percent to about 598,000 and active user activity increased by 17.3 percent for the quarter.
