Spragues’ Gun Lake Legacy Continues

The Gun Lake Tribe of Pottawatomi Indians in Wisconsin elected Scott Sprague, Gun Lake Casino facility director, as Tribal Council chairman. He replaced his cousin Leah Sprague-Fodor, who lost a reelection bid. She had been favored to replace 24-year Council Chairman D.K. Sprague. Scott's father, Dick Sprague, was formerly Tribal Council vice-chairman.

Scott Sprague recently was sworn in as chairman of the Tribal Council of Gun Lake Tribe of Pottawatomi Indians, based in Bradley, Michigan. Sprague has served as facility director at the Gun Lake Casino since it opened in March 2011. He also has served on several tribal committees and has been the council secretary for two years. His father, Dick Sprague, was a former Tribal Council vice-chairman.

Sprague replaces his cousin Leah Sprague-Fodor, who lost reelection to the council on August 23. She had been favored to replace D.K. Sprague, who retired in February after 24 years as Tribal Council chairman.

A Battle Creek native, Sprague served 30 years as an engineer, senior buyer and project manager in the power industry before he retired to become involved tribal affairs.
