The St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin recently broke ground at the new St. Croix Express Casino Complex in Hertel. The complex will feature a casino with 250 slot machines, a 50-seat restaurant, players club, RV park and an 850-seat outdoor amphitheater. Several new buildings will be constructed and existing ones will be converted to offices for tribal government and services.

A soft opening will be held in December for the FourWinds Market Complex located next to the Express Casino on Wisconsin Highway 70, a heavily traveled route by Twin Cities residents visiting the state’s lake country.

The 1,054-member St. Croix tribe employs more than 2,000 individuals and operates casinos in Danbury and Turtle Lake.
