MGM Casino in National Harbor, Maryland will open December 8 and immediately challenge Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. over which venue will offer the biggest and best performers. The top-name entertainment will kick off with Boyz II Men on December 15, Lionel Richie on December 22 and Bruno Mars on December 27—the same night Verizon Center will feature Kanye West.
Duran Duran will perform on New Year’s Eve and Day at MGM Casino. Comedian Jim Gaffigan will appear January 6 and 7, Kings of Leon on January 12 and ZZ Top on March 5. The venue will announce a date with Cher in the near future.
Verizon Center will host least 82 Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards games through April, not counting playoff games after that. A monster truck show also is scheduled. Ariana Grande will perform on February 27 and Green Day in March.
