Svenska Spel to Offer Free Blocking Software to Players

Sweden’s Svenska Spel, a state-owned gambling company operating in the regulated market, has announced it will offer a license for free blocking software to persons who have chosen to self-exclude, Gambling News reported January 29.

The company has reached an arrangement with Gamban, which will give a free license to the Gamban app and support from the company.

Svenska Spel Responsible Gambling Specialist Daniel Harre in a statement declared that people with a gambling problem shouldn’t gamble: “Therefore, in the rare cases our customers experience this, we’ll offer them a free Gamban license for up to five years,” he said. “We believe that using Gamban may give someone the pause from gambling that is required for seeking help, going into treatment and start recovering.”

Gamban Director of External Affairs Matt Zarb-Cousin, commented, “We are excited to be working with Svenska Spel to provide market leading blocking software to people wanting to stop gambling.” He added, “This partnership reflects Svenka Spel’s commitment to all of their customers playing in a fun, safe and healthy way.”
