Tak Chun Opens VIP Room at Studio City

Macau junket operator the Tak Chun Group officially opened a VIP room at the Studio City Casino Macau. It includes nine high-roller gaming tables in four rooms totaling more than 10,700 square feet of space.

When Melco Crown’s billion Studio City resort opened in Macau in October 2015, it made more headlines for what it didn’t have—a VIP room—than for what it did (a Hollywood-themed amusement park that includes a Batman virtual reality ride). The resort opened during the jurisdiction’s long downturn, when VIP players were scarce and mass market play was seen as the next big thing.

Now the Tak Chun Group has become the first junket operator to launch a VIP service inside the resort on the Cotai Strip. The so-called Studio City Tak Chun VIP Club now plans to open in other in five-star hotels and resorts throughout Taipa and the Cotai Strip in order to “actively renew the group’s visibility, market position and premium services,” according to GGRAsia.

“With this new VIP operation, the group now operates 15 VIP clubs including 13 in Macau and two overseas with over 200 gaming tables,” said Levo Chan, CEO of the Tak Chun Group in a statement.

Melco Crown Entertainment Limited announced last month that two-thirds of the 33 VIP tables allocated for Studio City would be reserved for the Tak Chun Group and rival junket operator the Suncity Group.
