Tanzania Board Clarifies Licensing Authority

The Tanzania Gaming Board has clarified that only it may issue gaming licenses, although other agencies have apparently been doing it. This violates Tanzania’s Gaming Act No.4 2003.

The board issued a statement in which it said it identified several “violations” of its licensing procedures. This violations have confused operators. The clarification’s purpose is to “eliminate the recurring confusion between operators and some business officers, cultural officers and police officers in various parts of the country.”

The board also clarified that the licenses will only be issued after a thorough vetting and background check.
