The Foundry Debuts as SLS Las Vegas

The SLS Las Vegas has its first live music venue since its reopening with the February 5, when the Foundry raises its curtain for the first time with a performance by AWOLnation. The new concert venues seats up to 600, and will have acts booked by national concert promoter Live Nation.

A new 600-seat concert venue at the SLS Las Vegas is scheduled to open in February, giving the casino its first live music venue since reopening in 2014.

The Foundry will feature its first live stage performance with artist AWOLnation performing on February 5, in the former LiFE Nightclub. Other concerts scheduled include Lil Wayne, X Ambassadors, Adam Lambert, and Boyce Avenue.

The SLS will operate the venue, but national concert promoter Live Nation is in charge of its bookings.

When the SLS Las Vegas opened in 2014, it had three nightclubs and no concert venue. Casino officials say The Foundry is about the same size as the House of Blues at the Mandalay, which holds up to 2,000 concert goers and also is booked by Live Nation.

The Foundry will hold up to 1,800 for standing room-only shows, and 600 for concerts featuring seating. Its primary competition is the Brooklyn Bowl and the Hard Rock Live on the Strip, with the Pearl Theatre at the Palms and the pool deck at the Cosmopolitan also among its competitors.

Its deal with Live Nation makes the House of Blues and Mandalay Bay Beach venues less of a competitor, while The Foundry serves as a complement to them, giving Live Nation potentially popular venues at both ends of the Las Vegas Strip.

For the SLS, casino officials anticipate the new venue will help to generate buzz among visitors and bring more people in to see what’s going on at the casino and spend some time at the slot machines, gambling tables, restaurants, clubs, and retail shops.
