Canada-based sports betting operator theScore has signed off on a 10-year deal with Caesars Entertainment for access the Illinois online sports betting market through Harrah’s Joliet Hotel & Casino. Regulatory approval still is needed but theScore expects to start taking bets from Illinois in the second half of 2021.
John Levy, chairman and chief executive of theScore, said, “Gaining market access to Illinois is a significant development that will bring our award-winning mobile sportsbook to one of the most populous states. Caesars is a giant in the casino entertainment industry and we’re thrilled to have reached this agreement to extend theScore Bet’s footprint into another key new market.”
Illinois will be the fifth state where theScore operates; it’s already active in New Jersey, Colorado, Indiana and Iowa.
In January, the latest month with available figures, Illinois sports betting generated revenue of $49.4 million on bets of $581.6 million.
