Tiger Palace in Nepal Reopens Hotel

Nepal’s Tiger Palace Resort Bhairahawa has opened again, almost after a year after it shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Inside Asian Gaming, the hotel closed its doors on March 23, 2020. Last week, CEO Dhananjay Regmi and staff of the Nepal Tourism Board marked the grand reopening occasion. The casino is still closed, along with other casinos across Nepal, though it’s speculated that the gaming halls will soon be permitted to reopen as well.

Tiger Palace’s parent, Australian-listed Silver Heritage Group, was recently taken over by Philippines-based HatchAsia Inc. The company was placed into voluntary administration last May by its main lender, OCP Asia, after the start of the pandemic and the subsequent closure of two Silver Heritage casinos in Nepal: Tiger Palace Resort and the Millionaire’s Club in Kathmandu. IAG reports that Silver Heritage Group’s Nepal-based subsidiary, Silver Heritage Ltd,, continues to operate all Nepal assets which remain under the control of receivers.
