U.S. Rep. Dina Titus, whose district includes the Las Vegas Strip, has been elected co-chair of the newly reformed Congressional Gaming Caucus.
The caucus, which was re-launched at the start of the 116th Congress, will serve as a platform to discuss issues related to the gaming industry and maintain a pipeline on Capitol Hill for the regulatory and legislative matters of the 30 states whose representatives comprise the caucus.
Titus, a Democrat, succeeds Mississippi Democrat Bennie Thompson as co-chair and will serve in the position alongside Pennsylvania Republican Guy Reschenthaler.
“We will be joining other members of Congress across the country as we demonstrate that Nevada’s gaming system has set an example for the rest of the nation to follow,” Titus said. “The caucus will play a critical role as we address issues like sports betting, internet gaming and labor protections.”
Bill Miller, CEO of the American Gaming Association, the industry’s Washington lobbying arm, hailed the rebirth of the caucus’s re-launch as one of the AGA’s top priorities.
“As gaming expands, it’s more important than ever that members of Congress from both gaming and non-gaming states appreciate the important role our industry plays in communities across the country,” he said.
