Venetian and Palazzo Welcomes New President

After four years as president of the Venetian and Palazzo, John Caparella will step down and be replaced by George Markantonis.

Since 2011, John Caparella has served as the president of the Venetian and Palazzo. In just a few weeks, Caparella will bid farewell to the resort, and be replaced by George Markantonis, who most recently was the top executive down in the Bahamas, at the Atlantis resort.

Sands spokesman Ron Reese said Caparella is “leaving to pursue new career opportunities,” but left it at that. Markantonis beings with him a long track record in the hospitality industry, where he has worked for decades, including 16 years with the Westin hotel and resort chain.

He also served as senior vice president of hotel operations at Caesars Palace. He will start his new chapter at the Venetian and Palazzo on March 17.
