Virginia Casino Holds Topping-Off Ceremony

A topping-off ceremony was held May 10 at Rush Street Gaming’s Rivers Casino Portsmouth in Virginia. The ceremonial steel beam in “Rivers yellow” was signed by construction teams, casino officials and local leaders. Ground was broken for the project in December 2021.

Justin Ballard, president at S.B. Ballard Construction Company, said, “Despite supply chain disruptions caused by the pandemic, we are still on track to complete this project early 2023.”

The $300 million Rivers Casino Portsmouth will include the gaming floor, BetRivers sportsbook, restaurants, live entertainment lounge, hotel and event center. It will create 1,400 construction jobs and 1,300 new permanent jobs, officials said. Monthly job fairs currently are being held.
