William Hill to Operate ARC Track Betting Facilities

UK racetrack operator Arena Racing Company announced that William Hill will open new betting facilities at six of its syndicated racecourses. The tracks include: Doncaster (l.), Lingfield Park, Royal Windsor, Southwell, Wolverhampton and Worcester. The facilities are expected to be open by the end of August.

UK Bookmaker William Hill will open trackside betting facilities at six Arena Racing Company tracks, the companies announced.

The facilities will open at the ARC tracks Doncaster, Lingfield Park, Royal Windsor, Southwell, Wolverhampton and Worcester by the end of August, the companies said in a press announcement.

William Hill and ARC management expect the betting facilities to be installed within all six racetracks by the end of August.

“We are really pleased to have been able to work with William Hill to ensure all these betting facilities will be open in the coming weeks,” said ARC’s Director of Operations Mark Spincer. “As a leading betting operator, and key sponsor partner of ARC, William Hill’s facilities are well placed to meet all customers’ needs and thrive in the years ahead.”

The agreement comes after William Hill signed a long-term media rights deal with The Racing Partnership late last year. The bookmaker also sponsors of the William Hill St Leger Festival which will run at Doncaster racecourse in September.

In another matter, UK media reports say Silchester International—a major backer of supermarket Morrisons and publisher Pearson—has acquired a 5 percent stake in William Hill.

UK analysts said Silchester has a reputation for investing in struggling companies that have strong potential. William Hill has been facing falling revenue and is dealing with the sudden departure of CEO James Henderson.

New CEO Philip Bowcock, however, has said the company is on track to improve its profit performance through a series of strategies, many of which focus on its online business.
