Work on the replacement Soboba Casino and Resort in the Hemet-San Jacinto Valley in Southern California is proceeding rapidly, according to a progress report issue recently by the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians Tribal Council.
The tribe is building a 200-room hotel and 480,000 square foot casino resort to replace its existing one. Concrete work and the structural steel installation are both completed according to Tom Groenendal, senior superintendent for C.W. Driver.
Now workers are installing the heat-reflective energy efficient roof. Soon the work will shift inside of the hotel. About 600 construction workers are laboring every day.
They are working toward completion of the project by the end of the year. This will make room for 2,000 slot machines, 24 gaming tables, cafes, bars, a sports bar, event center and 200-room six-story hotel. Outside will be an 8,300 SF swimming pool complex and golf course. The pool will be separated from the golf course by a transparent barrier that will provide a view of the course.
The course will include a Signature Island green. The course was redesigned by Cary Bickler, a renowned golf course architect.
Groenendal commented on the tribal website: “We are doing really good on the construction side. The tribe is very attentive to taking care of any needs and the community has been very supportive.”
