The Wynn Encore in Las Vegas opened its millennials-targeted Encore Players Club on December 19 in an effort to appeal to the next generation of gamblers.
The Players Club is a 5,000-square-foot-club located within the casino area and that Wynn Resorts describes as a “distinctive social space” for younger gamblers and others. The club has numerous televisions, a DJ area, lounge, and specialized food and drinks aimed at millennial gamblers, whom studies show have different gambling and entertainment needs than their older predecessors.
The Encore Players Club also will have billiards, mobile sports betting, table games, and other options, and will be open during the day as well as in the evening to enable younger bettors to hang out before heading to a club or other activities.
Due to their exposure to computer, video, and online gaming, gaming studies show millennials prefer interactive, skills-based gaming. That’s a problem for casinos, which rely on traditional slot machines for most of their gaming revenue.
Slot machines don’t offer the same skills-based and interactive gaming environment to which millennials are accustomed via online and computer gaming, so Wynn and other casinos are seeking ways to attract millennials while developing the types of gaming that will keep them coming back for many more years to come.
