Wynn Water Park Taking Shape

Wynn Resorts Chairman Steve Wynn says the proposed Paradise Park water resort project is exactly the kind of attraction that visitors will find irresistible and says he spends much of his waking hours obsessing over development plans, which include a 1,300-square-foot lake surrounded by a white sand beach and boardwalk, plus a 1,000-room hotel addition.

Wynn Resorts ChairmanSteve Wynn says he’s wholly immersed in bringing his grand water park plan to fruition in Las Vegas.

The initial project is called Paradise Park and would be located where Wynn Resorts currently has its golfing facility located on the southwest corner of Paradise Road and East Desert Inn.

Wynn recently told the Las Vegas Sun he’s obsessed with the project and spends most waking hours thinking and working on the plan.

Initial proposals call for a 1,000-room hotel, a 1,300-square-foot lake with an expansive white sand beach, and a 5,800-foot-long boardwalk around the lake’s perimeter.

The boardwalk would include retail shops, restaurants, and bars, and cul-de-sacs will take visitors to hidden village squares.

An up to 10-story tall island with two peaks and varying topography is planned for the center of the lake, and cabanas are to be built into the sides of the island. A rope bridge will connect its two peaks, Wynn told the Las Vegas Sun.

Wynn also says a zip line ride will convey visitors from the Wynn Resorts convention center to the beach bar at Paradise Park, while others can opt for electrically powered ferries.

Other plans include nightly fireworks shows from the island’s twin peaks, and daily water skiing shows.

Wynn says the development is the type that will prove irresistible to the about 800,000 people who visit Las Vegas every week.

While Wynn has high hopes for his new water park, Wynn Las Vegas has high hopes for its new poker room at the Encore, which opened this month.

The new poker room is 62 percent larger than the prior one, and has up to 28 poker tables, three more than before.

The expansion gives poker players more room while playing, and a dedicated sports book, restrooms, and 37 large-screen televisions help to ensure players keep abreast of sporting events and other action.
