California’s Elk Valley Rancheria has opened a new casino near the northern end of the state. The casino, relocated off-reservation in Crescent City, with a view of the Pacific Ocean, opened April 22.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 36,000 square foot casino was officiated by Tribal Chairman Dale Miller, the tribal council and many tribal members.
Miller declared, “We’re just so proud of this incredible new property and we look forward to continuing our work supporting our Tribal Members and being a great partner here in our local community.”
The opening was marked with a country music concert headlined by the Roots and Boots Tour.
Elk Valley Casino, which sits on 200 acres adjacent to Highway 101, has more than 150 employees with a capacity of more than 1,500 guests. It takes its Elk Valley name from the meadow where it sits, which is frequented by many of the protected elks.
The tribe reached infrastructure improvement agreements with the City of Crescent City and Del Norte County, including upgrades of water and sewer, firehouse renovations and road improvements.
