Camelot Teams With Barclays for Mobile Payments Service

Camelot, operator of the UK National Lottery, has teamed up with Barclays to launch a new mobile payment option for customers.

Camelot has partnered with Barclays to launch a new mobile payment option for customers of the UK National Lottery.

The new service will utilize Barclays Pingit, a first person-to-person mobile payment application.

National Lottery players registered with Pingit will be able to pay for the Lotto, Thunderball and EuroMillions by Lucky Dip draws using the app or scanning a unique QR code. Players can select the draws they wish to purchase a ticket for and the number of draws that they wish to enter, with the ticket being directly linked to their device, Camelot—which operates the lottery—said in a news release,

The free service will be made available to all players in the UK that have a mobile device and a valid UK bank account. Players that purchase a winning ticket using Pingit will also have the option to receive and withdraw winnings of up to £50,000 (€96,600/$108,400) through their Pingit account, the company said.

“With faster payment and registration, Pingit will make it even easier for our players to enjoy the excitement of National Lottery games on the go, with the added security offered by Barclays,” Camelot digital director Tim Copper said. “This collaboration with Barclays represents a real breakthrough in speed and simplicity for our players and underlines how we’re continuing to radically enhance The National Lottery playing experience.”
