Flutter Entertainment’s FanDuel subsidiary has partnered with the Brazil-based mass media company Grupo Global to provide daily fantasy sports (DFS). This will support the launch of Cartola Express, a paid DFS platform.
DFS Entretenimento will operate Cartola Express as part of Cartola FC’s fantasy sports offering along with its free-to-play services.
This agreement will allow Flutter, via FanDuel, to expand further into the Americas. According to FanDuel CEO Peter Jackson, “In Cartola FC, Grupo Globo has built a pioneer in the Brazilian fantasy sports market, offering millions of players access to a first-class entertainment platform which is integrated across a vast sports media portfolio.”
She continued, “This exciting initiative allows us to contribute to that success by adding FanDuel’s proven product capabilities and cutting-edge services. We’re looking forward to being a part of this initiative, offering players a new service and the next generation of fantasy sports in Brazil.”
Grupo Global aims to beef up its existing sports offerings such as the weekly commentary show “The LineUp” and its online sports outlet GE, with the Flutter agreement.
DFS Entretenimento CEO Newton Filho added, Offering his own take on the agreement, DFS Entretenimento CEO Newton Filho said: “Daily fantasy sports is a fast-growing form of entertainment in Brazil and Cartola Express has the potential to take this to the next level.”
